HUGE MATH EDUCATIONAL SUCCESS STORIES The success stories of the MathMasters Series, per the investigative article on the front page of the July 20, 2007 Detroit News, with the title Dad’s Math Book Makes the Grade, and the independent investigative article of the November 9, 2007 by the Washington Times, with the title, Educational Overhaul, confirm that when students are given effective math books, they can excel and that no student is unsalvageable. The Washington Times of November 19, 2007, describes the success stories of the MathMasters Series as Total Math Success Stories. The November 30, 2007 ASCD Smart Brief judged the success stories of the MathMasters Series as the Most Clicked Article. Every book contains basic math, algebra, geometry and probability. I initially wrote the series for my children who were bringing home bad grades in math and they were in the Resource Room. While using the series, they progressed rapidly from the Resource Room in grade 5 to the regular class in grade 6, and then further progressed to the advanced class in grade 7 and maintained the advanced class status in grade 8; and finally, both of them scored the highest level on the state math test. My son Samuel was judged the most improved student in grade 5 by the Memorial Elementary school, which is in the Riverview School District. He was given a scholarship for his progress. My son Joshua, who is in the middle school, grade 8, has been selected by the Talent Development Department of a university to take the SAT and the ACT, which are the university entrance requirements for the senior high school students. The series are designed as mathematics textbooks and self tutoring books for both students and parents of the world. The series contain a generous number of detailed, worked examples that are step-by-step and over 90% of the homework exercises are linked with the worked examples so that the students can do their homework. About 10% of the homework exercises are challenge questions to check for understanding. The series provide conceptual understanding and computational fluency with road maps and benchmarks that lead to mastery and retention of the mathematical concepts. The book provides parents with the opportunity to tutor/support their children if needed. Parents cheerlead during sports and programs at their child's school. That support should not stop during math homework just because the parents do not understand their children's math books. The MathMasters Series provides all students with mathematical residency in much the same way medical students are provided with medical residency. The series are not written just for students who are struggling in math, but for all students and parents. The series can help smart students to become smarter. The huge success stories of the MathMasters Series confirm that when students are given effective math textbooks, they can excel. Every student must have the MathMasters Series. Every home deserves a set of the series as a mathematical reference library. I quit my job as a Senior Engineer to write the series for my children who were bringing home bad grades. Schools are encouraged to adopt the series or to use it as supplemental math books using Title 1, Part A funds to replicate the success stories. Libraries are also encouraged to buy many sets of the series so that students do not have to struggle with their math homework year after year, or fail the state test year after year.
